indness is not coming home after a hard day of work and turning on the TV, plopping down on the couch and downing a tub of ice cream when you committed to meditating.

The voices will say, “Oh you deserve it! Take a break! Stop being so hard on yourself…”

If you buy into their game and go along with their bad advice, you’ll later be beaten up for listening to them — especially when your meditation practice is gone, and you’re struggling again.

That doesn’t mean you can’t come home, turn on the TV, plop down on the couch and have some ice cream.

You just do it consciously.

Mindfully, compassionately and with full awareness.

In this way, you create integrity in your life. You stop being led around by the nose by those unhelpful voices.

When you consciously create and keep your commitments, you are proclaiming that you are in charge of your life and that you are a trustworthy steward of it.

That’s the ultimate kindness.

In lovingkindness,
