Author your thoughts

I

f you examine your thoughts, you will begin to notice a fascinating thing:

Most of them are not your own.

You don’t consciously author them.

Many will drop in, boss you around, convince you of things, rob you of your attention, make you feel bad and essentially waste your time.

To “author your thoughts” requires that you pay attention sincerely. Only by being here in this moment do you have the opportunity to author your thoughts and direct your attention.

To create instead of follow.
To respond instead of react.
To awaken instead of suffer.

In lovingkindness,
