A single path

A single path

“There exists in the world a single path along which no one can go except you.
Whither will it lead?
Do not ask, go along it.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche

W

hither will it lead?

Therein lies the self-doubt. We ask, “Is this path the right path? Will I regret it? Am I doing the right thing? Is there a better path? What if…”

So we sit down and fret. Our path becomes a holding pattern. We get up only to pace back and forth. We ask the Universe, the fortune tellers, the Facebook groups, the counselors, the therapists, the family members, the friends, the gurus on the corner.

Questions, questions, questions.

Will the answer satisfy the voices so they don’t beat me up for my decision? Can I find someone else to blame instead? Perhaps I should wait until tomorrow…

Shut up and keep going.

In lovingkindness,
